Dr. Dhaarak K. Desai,

Dhaarak Kamal Desai, M.D., is a dynamic and compassionate board-certified family medicine physician who brings strong clinical, administrative, and leadership experience to his practice. Dr. Desai is passionate about delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care with a dedicated focus on patient education, public health, and preventive medicine. He is committed to serving patients in primary care, urgent care, and hybrid outpatient settings.

Before completing his residency, Dr. Desai built a unique foundation in healthcare administration and quality improvement. He worked for four years (2017-2021) as a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist and Interim Sepsis Coordinator. In this role, he conducted clinical documentation analysis , performed coding and validation audits , and developed training for physicians and nursing staff on documentation practices. This experience provided him with deep insight into quality initiatives and hospital-wide protocol implementation, including leading sepsis protocol adaptation.

In addition to his Board Certification in Family Medicine , Dr. Desai is also a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through AHIMA and a graduate of the Global/Public Health Scholars Program.

During his training at Larkin Community Hospital (2022-2025), Dr. Desai was selected as Chief Resident. In this leadership role, he oversaw resident scheduling, optimized clinical workflows, and enhanced educational activities. He organized and led didactic sessions and morning reports, mentored junior residents and medical students , and served as a key liaison between residents and hospital leadership. He also actively participated in the residency recruitment and interview processes.

His dedication to community wellness extends beyond the clinic; he is the founder of the KIND Toys Initiative, which organizes the collection and distribution of toys to underserved regions in India , and the co-founder of the Primrose Health Literacy Initiative (P.H.L.I.), which develops community-based health education seminars.

He is also fluent in English and Gujarati, with intermediate proficiency in Hindi.
