What to Expect

Treatment for ingrown toenails including partial nail removal, nail bed treatment, and preventive care to avoid recurrence. Performed under local anesthesia.

Minor Surgery

2 - 3 weeks

  • Keep the dressing clean/dry for the time advised; replace as instructed.

  • Elevate your foot for the first day to reduce swelling.

  • Use pain relief only as approved by your provider.

  • Soak/clean the toe as directed; watch for increasing redness, pus, or fever.

  • Will it hurt? You’ll typically receive local anesthesia; you may feel pressure, not sharp pain.

  • Can the nail grow in again? Recurrence is possible; partial matrix treatment can reduce risk.

  • When can I wear regular shoes? Usually within a few days once tenderness subsides.

  • When should I call? If pain, redness, or drainage worsens, or you develop fever.
