What to Expect

Surgical

1 - 2 weeks

Keep the dressing in place and dry for the time advised.
Clean gently as directed; apply ointment if prescribed.
Limit stretching/strain on the area; watch for bleeding or wound opening.
Stitches (if used) are removed as scheduled; scar care starts after healing.

Will it return? Removing the entire sac lowers recurrence risk but can’t guarantee zero risk.
Scar? A small scar is expected; it softens over time.
Work/exercise? Most light activity next day; avoid heavy strain until cleared.
When to call? Spreading redness, pus, fever, or severe pain.
